December 4th Meeting Summary

Mrs. Rosonia Thomas took over the coaching duties this week and her experience as an elementary educator was evident. Our team discussed teamwork and the differences between success and winning a prize. We have a bunch of bright young people and each of them brings a special skill-set to our team.

We discussed some of the basics from our problem, "Seeing is Believing" We will begin working on our problem at the next meeting. The summary of the problem is below and I've highlighted the core items that we will be working on in our upcoming meetings. The team decided that they will think about what & where our community will be and what & where they are afraid of. We will brainstorm these ideas and the team will determine what our long-term program will entail.  I will double check the problem prior to the meeting, so I can make sure that whatever they choose meets the requirements.

Problem 5: Seeing is Believing
In this problem teams are to create and present an original performance about a
community that feels threatened by something in a location it has never visited. The community townspeople will use a creative method to select one or more Travelers to visit and explore the location. While at the location, a Traveler will use a means of communication to send a message home to convince the community that there is nothing to fear. The performance will also include a narrator character, two rhymes about the travels, and a moving set piece

Once the problem packet is opened, we will not be able to add any new teammates, with leads me to the next bit of news...Andrew Turong is joining our team and Kathryn Ramsaroop is still interested in being a part of our team as well. I'm hoping that they will be at the next meeting and I want everyone to welcome them and be ready for their input on our long-term problem.

Come up with some creative ideas for communities and things they may be afraid of, and we will brainstorm on Wednesday!
See you then
Cary
